U.S. based airline, JetBlue Airways, recently announced its decision to add flights to Samana, a lush province in the Dominican Republic famous for offering amazing whale-watching tours and eco-tourism excursions. The decision to add the new route to Samana is still pending government approval, and if approved JetBlue Airways will be adding this latest destination to its list of already impressive flight routes to the Dominican Republic. Assuming the airline is granted the necessary approval, it would further cement its position as the leading airline for U.S. based travellers planning Dominican Republic holidays with JetBlue, currently flying from the U.S. to five other key tourist destinations in the Dominican Republic, namely; La Romana, Puerto Plata, Punta Can, Santiago and Santo Domingo.
Of the new route, John Checketts, JetBlue's director of network planning, had the following to say, "Samana is one of the best kept secrets in the Dominican Republic, and one that offers great potential. With its tropical forest and beach combination, we believe this undiscovered paradise will be a pleasant surprise for many of our customer… As the country's largest carrier, we are very pleased with the support we continue to receive from the island's communities and glad to be able to keep adding destinations for visitors and residents of the Dominican Republic alike"

The new route is scheduled to start operating from 14th November 2012 and will be the first ever service between the U.S. and Samana. According to JetBlue's press release the twice weekly flight will depart on Wednesdays and Saturdays from the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and will land in Samana's El Catey International Airport (AZS).Holidaymakers in the United States may well want to take advantage of the new direct route to book an affordable short escape to Samana with flights already on sale and starting from as low as USD $169 (for travel between 14th November 2012 and the 9th February 2013).
U.S. holidaymakers might also be interested in learning that the period between January and March each year is an ideal time to book Dominican Republic holidays in Samana and go on whale-watching tours, as these months provide visitors with the unique opportunity to see the humpback whales in action at Samana Bay. As many as 5000 whales make the lengthy and challenging journey from Iceland, Greenland and Canada's icy waters all the way over to the Dominican Republic's Samana Bay to mate and calve.
JetBlue is considered one of the U.S.'s leading airline with a strong reputation for a commitment to customer service and affordable fares. Additionally, JetBlue can boast of being the U.S. airline that provides the most legroom in economy class.
